[7/4/2014] Injury Report: Yoshinori Sato (Yakult), Ryuji Ichioka (Hiroshima)

Yomiuri Giants

  • Hirokazu Sawamura (right shoulder) and Tetsuya Utsumi (left shoulder) joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts at Tokyo Dome on Friday.  Sawamura threw forty-four pitches in the bullpen and is currently slated to start Sunday's game against Chunichi.  Utsumi will most likely get start a on the 9th against Yokohama. Hanshin Tigers

  • Atsushi Nomi (left side) could make it back to the active roster in time for a start during the Yomiuri series that begins on the 11th.  The 13th is a good possibility.  During workouts on Thursday, Nomi played catch at a distance of about fifty meters.  He also shortened the distance to around eighteen meters and had his catch-partner squat for a few throws. Hiroshima Carp

  • Ryuji Ichioka (right shoulder) is ready to begin pitching in Ni-gun rehab games.  Assuming no setbacks, he could return to the active roster during the Hanshin series that begins on the 8th at Koshien Stadium. Chunichi Dragons

Yakult Swallows

  • Yoshinori Sato (right shoulder) started a Ni-gun rehab game on Thursday.  He tossed two shutout innings and allowed one hit.  He threw thirty-nine pitches and topped out at 149km/h. Source: Sanspo 7/4/2014
