Softbank Hawks

  • Kenji Otonari joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts on Thursday.  He will be added to the active roster on the 11th.  The Hawks are planning to test him in relief before giving him a start. Source: Sponichi 7/10/2014

Orix Buffaloes

  • 1st round draft pick Kazumada Yoshida and Takahiro Matsuba returned to Kobe before general practices at YafuOku Dome on Thursday.  Yoshida and Matsuba are scheduled to start games against Seibu at Seibu Dome on Friday and Saturday, respectively.  The two returned to Kobe ahead of everyone else because of the weather. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani struck out sixteen on Wednesday to become the youngest player to strike out sixteen or more in one game at twenty years and zero months.  The previous record of sixteen strikeouts at twenty years and two months was set by Yutaka Enatsu on August 8, 1968.
