Hanshin Tigers

  • Kentaro Sekimoto recorded a pinch-hit grand slam during Sunday's game against the Yomiuri Giants.  Sekimoto became the thirteenth player in franchise history to blast a pinch-hit grand slam, first since Shinjiro Hiyama on August 21, 2007; and sixth player in franchise history to blast a come-from-behind pinch-hit grand slam, first since Hiroshi Yagi on July 30, 2002.   • Atsushi Nomi failed to record a strikeout in his start on Saturday against Yomiuri for the first time since June 7, 2008 vs Softbank.  His next start will likely come during a Yomiuri series that begins on the 21st at Koshien. Source: Sanpso 7/13/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • Kenta Maeda's first start after the All-Star break will most likely come on the 25th against Hanshin at Mazda Stadium. Source: Sports Hochi 7/13/2014

Chunichi Dragons

  • The Dragons will add Ikusei outfielder Kazuyuki Akasaka to the seventy-man roster.  His uniform number will change from 204 to 73.  The move will be finalized on Monday. Source: official announcement
  • Through Saturday: Michihiro Ogasawara joined Kenichi Yazawa (1986) and Hitoshi Taneda (2000) as the only players in franchise history to record hits in six consecutive at bats (not plate appearances). Source: Daily Sports 7/13/2014 ... The Central League record of hits in seven consecutive at bats was set by Makoto Matsubara in 1980.  Ogasawara has also reached based in eight straight trips to the plate.  The Central League record of eleven was set by Taneda in 2000. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Daisuke Miura picked up his first victory of the season during Sunday's game against the Yakult Swallows.  He has now recorded at least one victory over twenty-two consecutive seasons, beginning in 1993.  Twenty-two seasons tied him with Tetsuya Yoneda (1956-1977).  Kimiyasu Kudo (1985-2007) and Masahiro Yamamoto (1988-2010) hold the NPB record with twenty-three.   • Shun Yamaguchi (July 1) and Guillermo Moscoso (July 12) hit home runs in games this month.  The last time two pitchers on the same team recorded home runs in the same month was Colby Lewis and Kenta Maeda in September 2008.  The last time it happened in franchise history was with Masaji Hiramatsu and Kazuhiko Endo in June 1980.
