Yomiuri Giants

  • Hirokazu Sawamura gave up a pinch-hit grand slam to Kentaro Sekimoto during Sunday's game against the Hanshin Tigers.  Heading into the game, he was 3-for-36 in bases loaded situations (three singles). Source: Sponichi 7/14/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • Kentaro Sekimoto joined Noriyoshi Sano (May 20, 1985) as the only players in franchise history to record pinch-hit grand slams against the Yomiuri Giants.  Sekimoto is the first in franchise history to record a come-from-behind pinch-hit grand slam. Source: Sanspo 7/14/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • Brad Eldred struck out six times during Monday's twelve-inning game against the Yokohama Bay Stars and set a new NPB record for strikeouts in a single game.  The previous high was five, set by seven players in the Central League and six players in the Pacific League. Chunichi Dragons

  • On Sunday, Michihiro Ogasawara became the fifth player in Central League history to reach base in nine straight plate appearances as a pinch-hitter, first since Kentaro Sekimoto reached base in ten straight in 2010. Source: Sanspo 7/14/2014

Yokohama Bay Stars
