The Yomiuri Giants announced today that they finalized at agreement with twenty-year-old Cuba pitcher Hector Mendoza. He has been assigned the number ninety-four. The Giants also agreed to take on a pitching coach as part of their friendship agreement with the Baseball Federation of Cuba.
I am happy to sign a contract with a popular Japanese team, the Yomiuri Giants. I have confidence in my fastball and I feel my strength is aggressively attacking the inside corners. I would like to make it to Ichi-gun as soon as possible so that I can help the team win. I will also do my best to improve the image of Cuban baseball.
