  • Alfredo Despaigne took batting practice at Seibu Dome on Friday.  He swung the bat twenty-two times and hit seven over the fence.  He is hoping to make his Ichi-gun debut on the 29th. Softbank Hawks

  • Newly added Keizo Kawashima and Ryo Hidaka played in Friday's a Ni-gun game against Orix at YafuOku Dome.  Kawashima got the start at third and batted second against Orix.  He went 3-for-4: RBI triple in the 3rd; single to right in the 4th; two-run single to right in the 7th.  Hidaka entered the game in the 7th and tossed two shutout innings and allowed two hits. Orix Buffaloes

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Shohei Otani is 9-1 in fifteen starts over 97.0 innings of work.  He can become the first pitcher out of high school in franchise history to win ten or more games and pitch in 100 or more innings in his second year since Yu Darvish in 2006.  A win on Saturday would make him the first Nippon Ham pitcher to go on an eight-game winning streak since Darvish in 2011.  He would also become the first Nippon Ham pitcher to go on an eight-game winning streak in his second year since Darvish in 2006.
