Yomiuri Giants

  • Shinnosuke Abe became the fifty-second player in NPB history to reach the 3,000 total bases milestone when he collected an infield single during his first at bat on Friday against Chunichi's Yudai Ono.  He also joined Sadaharu Oh (5,862), Shigeo Nagashima (4,369), Tetsuharu Kawakami (3,500), Tatsunori Hara (3,144), and Isao Shibata (3,029) as the only players in franchise history to reach the milestone. Hanshin Tigers

  • Randy Messenger's next few starts: July 27 against Hiroshima at Mazda; August 2 against Yokohama at Koshien; August 8 against Hiroshima at Kyocera Dome; August 14 against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome; August 22 against Hiroshima at Mazda; August 28 against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome.  He could also get starts on September 9 (vs Yomiuri at Koshien) and September 14 (vs Hiroshima at Koshien).   • Shoichi Ino won his tenth game of the season on Friday against the Yakult Swallows and became the first pitcher in franchise history to reach double-digits in wins in one season since Naoyuki Shimizu in 2010. ... Ino became the first pitcher in the Central League to win ten games this season and also became the first pitcher to win ten or more games since DeNA took over the Bay Stars.
