Yomiuri Giants

  • Ryosuke Miyaguni will most likely get a start on the 7th against Yokohama at Yokohama.  It will be his first Ichi-gun start (and appearance) since April 2 against Yokohama at Yokohama. Source: Sponichi 8/4/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • Hiroaki Saiuchi could start Wednesday's game against the Yakult Swallows at Jingu.  Takumi Akiyama and Naoto Tsuru were also considered candidates for the start, but will be with the Ni-gun team for a road series. Source: Sanspo 8/4/2014
  • Yuta Iwasada started a Ni-gun game against Orix on Sunday.  He tossed six shutout innings and allowed one hit.  He walked three and struck out four.  He could get an Ichi-gun start on the 10th against Hiroshima at Kyocera Dome. Source: Sponichi 8/4/2014
  • Shintaro Fujinami's domed vs open stadiums (through Monday) record: in eleven domed games, he is 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA; in thirty open stadiums, he is 13-8 with a 3.34 ERA.  The four domed stadium victories: two at Nagoya Dome, one at Tokyo Dome, and one at Kyocera Dome.   • Two Hanshin games were rained out at Koshien on consecutive days (Saturday and Sunday) for the first time since 2011 (September 2, 3).  Incidentally, both games were sold out. Source: Sanspo 8/4/2014
  • US-based scout Andy Sheets has been keeping an eye on Kyuji Fujikawa.  The organization might be interested in Fujikawa as a starter, if he decides to return to Japan. Source: Sanspo 8/4/2014

Hiroshima Carp

Chunichi Dragons

  • Daisuke Sobue is expected to make the active roster on Tuesday. Source: Nikkan Sports 8/4/2014
  • The Dragons announced that they will play practice games against a mixed team from the Aichi University Baseball League and a mixed team from the Tokai University Baseball League at Nagoya Stadium on August 5 and 6, respectively.  Both games are scheduled to start at 12:30pm.  Admission will be free. Yokohama Bay Stars

  • Potential starters for the Yomiuri series that begins on Tuesday: Yasutomo Kubo, Shun Yamaguchi, Daisuke Miura. Source: Sanspo 8/4/2014
  • The team bus hit a concrete pillar as it was making its way out of the parking lot after Sunday's game was rained out.  No one was hurt, but the bus suffered a dent near the rear on the right side. Source: Sponichi 8/4/2014

Yakult Swallows

  • Wladimir Balentien has recorded two or more home runs in twenty-three times over his NPB career: four times in 2011, four times in 2012, eleven times in 2013, and four times so far in 2014.
