[8/5/2014] Injury Report: Yulieski Gourriel (Yokohama), Takayuki Kishi (Seibu)

Yomiuri Giants

  • Tomoyuki Sugano first started feeling discomfort in his right middle finger when he hit a grounder to second during an at bat in the 5th inning of a game against Yakult at Tokyo Dome on July 16.  He pitched in three games after that: second game of the All-Star series on July 19, July 25 against Chunichi, and August 1 against Hiroshima.  He was examined at a hospital on Monday because the injury was not showing signs of improvement.  He will most likely be shut down for a little while.   • The Bay Stars were hoping to get Yulieski Gourriel (left side) back some time around the 12th, but he may have re-injured/re-aggravated the injury when he resumed hitting practice on the 2nd.  Yokohama is no longer certain when Gourriel will be ready to return to the active roster.   • Takayuki Kishi was taken off the active roster on Tuesday with pain in his right elbow.  Kishi first complained of tightness in the elbow before his last start on the 3rd against Rakuten at kobo Stadium.  The Lions do not expect their ace to miss more than one start.   • The Marines are planning to take Takahiro Matsunaga and Carlos Rosa off the active roster.  Matsunaga complained of discomfort in his left elbow, Rosa discomfort in his right side. Source: Sponichi 8/5/2014
