Seibu Lions

  • The Seibu Lions and Nippon Ham Fighters played two consecutive twelve-inning games that lasted more than five hours over the weekend (five hours and forty-eight minutes on Saturday and five hours and fourteen minutes on Sunday).  There have been three other three-game series in the past that featured two games that ran over five hours: 1992, Yakult vs Hiroshima, five hours and twenty-seven minutes on September 29 (first game) and six hours and one minute on October 1 (third game); 1999, Seibu vs Kintetsu, five hours and nineteen minutes on September 3 (first game) and five hours and six minutes on September 5 (third game); and 2006, Rakuten vs Nippon Ham, five hours and fifteen minutes on August 29 (first game) and five hours and fourteen minutes on August 31 (third game).  Nippon Ham and Seibu became the first to accomplish the feat in consecutive games.
