Hanshin Tigers

  • Yuta Iwasada received about five hundred congratulatory e-mails from friends and supporters after he recorded the first Ichi-gun victory of his career on the 17th. Source: Nikkan Sports 8/18/2014
  • The Tigers recorded their third two-homer inning of the season on Sunday: July 1 against Yakult, 4th inning, Ryutaro Umeno and Mauro Gomez; August 5 against Yakult, 3rd inning, Takashi Toritani and Matt Murton.  The franchise record of four was set twice in the past: Game 1 against Hiroshima on September 19, 1976 and against Yakult on August 14, 1983. Chunichi Dragons

  • Motonobu Tanishige set a new NPB record when he homered for the first time this season on July 22 against Yokohama at Yokohama.  The blast gave him at least one home run in twenty-six consecutive seasons.  The bat and ball that set the record will be donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Tokyo.  The items will be put on display on the evening of August 23.
