Yomiuri Giants

  • Hirokazu Sawamura joined the Ichi-gun pitchers for workouts at Giants Stadium on Monday.  He could get a start on the 28th against Hanshin at Tokyo Dome. Source: Nikkan Sports 8/25/2014
  • Yuya Kubo walked in three consecutive runs in the 7th inning of Sunday's game against the Chunichi Dragons.  He became the fourteenth pitcher (seven Central League, seven Pacific League) since the start of the two leagues to walk in three consecutive runs, first since Hirotaka Egusa on August 27, 2009; and first Yomiuri pitcher since Mitsuo Sumi on June 3, 1979.  Kubo has walked in a total five runs this season, a first for a Yomiuri pitcher since Isao Tamura in 1978.   • Hector Mendoza made his second Ni-gun start on Sunday during a practice game against a mixed team from the Tokai University Baseball League.  He gave up a run on two hits over two innings of work and topped out at 148km/h. Source: Sponichi 8/24/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • The Tigers have three players with ten or more pinch-hit RBIs this season; Kentaro Sekimoto (twelve), Takahiro Arai (eleven), Ryota Arai (eleven).  This is the first time Hanshin has ever had three players on the roster with ten or more pinch-hit RBIs in one season. Source: Sponichi 8/25/2014

Chunichi Dragons
