Rakuten Eagles

  • Yuki Matsui set a new record by not surrendering a home run in his first 71.1 innings of work.  The previous record of 70.1 innings was set by Tsuneo Horiuchi in 1966.  The streak ended when he served up a home run to Seibu's Ernesto Mejia on Tuesday. Seibu Lions

  • Makoto Aiuchi could get a chance to make his Ichi-gun debut some time in early September.  The starting rotation currently includes Takayuki Kishi, Kazuhisa Makita, Ryoma Nogami, Yosuke Okamoto, Yusei Kikuchi, and Greg Reynolds.  There is a good chance Hirotaka Koishi will join the mix when the Lions begin a streak of ten games on September 2.  Reynolds gave up seven runs during his last outing.  If he fails to bounce back during his next start on the 30th, Aiuchi could slide in.
