Yomiuri Giants

  • Shuichi Murata became the 117th player in NPB history to reach the 1,500-hit milestone.  The hit, a three-run home run off Minoru Iwata, came in the 1st inning of Wednesday's game against the Hanshin Tigers. Source: Sponichi 8/27/2014
  • Shinnosuke Abe became the fifty-seventh player in NPB history to strike out 1,000 times during Tuesday's game against the Hanshin Tigers.  The milestone strikeout came in the 4th inning against Randy Messenger.  The Giants recorded a walk-off, come-from-behind victory against the Tigers on Tuesday for the first time since April 21, 2006.   • Jose Lopez recorded his second walk-off of the month on Tuesday.  The last Yomiuri player to record two walk-offs in one month was Yoshiyuki Kamei in 2009 (August 4 and 8).  Lopez is the first foreign player to accomplish the feat in franchise history. Source: Sponichi 8/27/2014
