Yomiuri Giants

  • Hirokazu Sawamura picked up his first shutout of the season on Thursday.  He became the first pitcher in franchise history to record at least one shutout in four consecutive seasons, beginning with his first year, since Koji Uehara did it over five seasons between 1999 and 2003. Hanshin Tigers

  • Mauro Gomez has struck out 134 times so far this year.  The franchise record of 153 strikeouts in one season was set by Craig Brazell in 2010. Source: Sanpso 8/29/2014
  • The Tigers want to strengthen their pitching staff during the off-season.  Orix's Chihiro Kaneko (30), in addition to Chunichi's Daisuke Yamai (36) and Nippon Ham's Naoki Miyanishi (29) are among the arms Hanshin is interested in. Source: Nikkan Sports 8/29/2014

Hiroshima Carp
