Yomiuri Giants

Hanshin Tigers

  • Suguru Iwazaki joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts on Monday. He could get a start during the Yokohama series that begins on the 2nd at Koshien. Source: Sponichi 9/1/2014
  • Hiroaki Saiuchi and Kazuya Takamiya were added to the active roster on Sunday. They will be used out of the bullpen. Source: Sanspo 9/1/2014
  • Shintaro Yokota hit three home runs in Sunday's Ni-gun game against Chunichi: two-run home run of Kentaro Nishikawa in the 2nd, two-run home run off Takahiro Kawasaki in the 4th, and a two-run home run off Kento Yachi in the 7th. Source: Daily Sports 9/1/2014
  • Sponichi: The Tigers are planning to offer Tsuyoshi Nishioka a contract after the season. They also like Hiroyuki Nakajima. If he decides to return to Japan, Hanshin will most likely offer him a contract. It would be Nishioka at second and Nakajima at third. Source: Sponichi 9/1/2014

Hiroshima Carp

  • The Carp finished August 15-10-1. It was the second time this year they finished a month with fifteen or more victories (16-8-0 in April).   • Masahiro Yamamoto will most likely get a start during the Hanshin series that begins on the 5th at Nagoya Dome. He practiced at Nagoya Dome on Monday.   • The Dragons lost twenty games in August. The last team to lose twenty or more games in a month was Rakuten with twenty-one in August 2005. The NPB record of twenty-two losses in one month was set by Kintetsu in August 1961. Four teams, including the August 2014 Dragons, hold the Central League record of twenty: Kokutetsu (May 1953, August 1962), Yosho (August 1954), and Hanshin (August 1990).
