Hanshin Tigers

  • Randy Messenger finished out his start on Tuesday against the Yokohama Bay Stars with 201 strikeouts on the season and set a new franchise high. The previous high of 200 was set by Gene Bacque in 1964. The last pitcher in the Central League to record at least 200 strikeouts in a season was Kei Igawa with 228 in 2004.   • Shintaro Fujinami's next start could come on the 6th against Chunichi at Nagoya Dome. His next start after that could come during a three-game series against Hiroshima that begins on the 12th at Koshien. Source: Nikkan Sports 9/2/2014

  • Rainel Rosario became the sixty-third player in NPB history, thirty-first in Central League history, to hit for the cycle, first since Michihiro Ogasawara on September 3, 2008.
