  • Tomoyuki Sugano threw forty-four pitches in the bullpen at Giants Stadium on Monday in preparation for his start against Hanshin on Wednesday. He mixed in breaking pitches and had someone stand in the batter's box during the session. Source: Sponichi 9/9/2014, Sanspo 9/9/2014

  • With twenty games left on the schedule (as of the start of Tuesday), Seung Hwan Oh will pitch when the game is either tied or the Tigers have the lead. • Yutaka Wada's future may be in jeopardy. How the team performs during the nine-game stretch that begins on Tuesday (September 9-11 against Yomiuri at Koshien, September 12-14 against Hiroshima at Koshien, and September 15-17 against Yakult at Jingu) could determine whether or not he returns next year. Source: Sports Hochi 9/9/2014 ... Top team officials, like owner Shinya Sakai, team president Nobuo Minami, and general manager Katsuhiro Nakamura, are expected to meet some time on or after the 14th to discuss the future of the team. Sponichi 9/9/2014
  • Potential free agents the Tigers are interested in: Yokohama's Masanori Hayashi would fill a relief need and is appealing because he will most likely be a C rank player, which means no compensation. Nippon Ham's Naoki Miyanishi would also fill a relief need, but will most likely be a B rank player, which does require compensation. Other players of interest include Chunichi's Daisuke Yamai and Orix's Yoshihisa Hirano. Source: Sports Hochi 9/9/2014
