Rakuten Eagles

  • Alfredo Despaigne was having stomach problems on Sunday morning. He took medicine and made it into the starting line-up against the Softbank Hawks at YafuOku Dome.  He hit three doubles during the game, but was replaced by a pinch-runner in the 9th because he felt nauseous. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • The media learned on Monday that Samurai Japan contacted Atsunori Inaba about a job as a hitting coach for the 2014 Suzuki All-Star Series in November. Inaba participated in the 2013 Baseball Challenge games against Taiwan last November as an assistant hitting coach. "Hiroki Kokubo called me the other day and asked if I could help," said Inaba to reporters during pre-game workouts at Sapporo Dome on Monday. He continued, "I'm still a member [of Nippon Ham]. I spoke to people in the organization about it and they wanted me to go for it. That's where things are." An announcement could be made within the next couple of days.
