Nichinan Gakuen High School withdrew from the Kyushu Miyazaki Tournament because of violent behavior.
According to school officials, on August 5, a second-year player pushed a first-year player in the baseball dorm baths. The first-year player fell and hit his head against a walk and needed four stitches to close a cut above the right eyebrow. The second-year player reportedly lost his cool when the first-year player splashed water on him. The manager and third-year players were not present at the time because they were attending the Summer Koshien. The incident was originally reported to the coach on duty as an accident that took place during a voluntary practice session.
There were three other cases of upper class students assaulting lower class students between August and September.
