The Hiroshima Carp held a press conference earlier today at Mazda Stadium to announce that they came to terms with Shoma Sato (25). He has been assigned the number ninety-eight. According to various reports, the two sides agreed on a contract worth an estimated 6.5 million yen. He is slated to join fall camp in Nichinan, Miyazaki on Wednesday.
Sato was considering retirement but was convinced by those around him to keep playing and attended the twelve-team tryout on the 9th. Hiroshima is hoping he can provide some help out of the bullpen.
Carp officials met Takahiro Arai (37) on Monday and are close to finalizing a deal that could be worth around twenty million yen. An announcement is expected within the next few days.
A number of Pacific League teams were also looking into Arai, but the veteran was more interested in the chance to play for his former team.
