Rakuten Eagles

  • Players and coaches visited an elementary school near Muscat Stadium at 7:40am on Friday and spent about thirty minutes high-fiving students as they arrived. Softbank Hawks

  • Akira Nakamura had surgery on his left elbow. He will be discharged from the hospital on Saturday. He will most likely require two months for a full recovery. Source: Sponichi 11/14/2014
  • Yuya Iida was planning to throw fifty pitches in the bullpen on Friday, but ended up throwing 165. He worked on throwing the change-up after getting tips from pitching coach Yoshinori Sato. Source: Nikkan Sports 11/14/2014
  • Kimiyasu Kudo watched over fall camp workouts on Thursday for the first time since he took over as manager. He spent time checking on pitchers in the bullpen. He worked with Hiroki Yamada and offered the following advice: lower your center of gravity, distribute your weight evenly on the landing leg, show the catcher the button on your back pocket. Yamada ended up throwing 200 pitches in the bullpen in an effort to get the motion right. Source: Sponichi 11/14/2014 ... Kudo used a seat to help illustrate how low the body should be when shifting weight to the back leg -- the seat was placed behind Yamada and he was told to drop his weight as if he were going to sit. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Sho Nakata will be leading a team of players against the Ibaraki Golden Golds at Tsuchiura Baseball Stadium in Ibaraki on November 29th. Team Nakata is also scheduled to play a game against a group of rubber baseball players from Ibaraki on the folowing day. Baseball clinics will be held before each game.   • Former Fighter Makoto Kaneko gave a lecture to players at the Ni-gun facilities in Kamagaya before practices on Friday. The lecture was for players drafted out of high school with five or fewer years of experience. Source: Nikkan Sports 11/14/2014
  • The Fighters held a press conference to introduce their newest members of the Ni-gun coaching staff: pitching coach Noriyuki Takahashi, hitting coach Noriyuki Shiroishi, and outfield/base coach Shinichi Kawana. Source: official announcement
