The Nippon Ham Fighters announced that they came to terms with twenty-seven-year-old infielder Brandon Laird.
The Fighters posted the following statement from Laird:
"I am happy to join the Nippon Ham Fighters organization. I hear that the Fighters are making good progress under Hideki Kuriyama. I am looking forward to playing for a budding team. I wish I could put on the Fighters' uniform now and head to the Sapporo Dome field where all the great fans are. I am willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win a championship."
