  • The Lions asked Tatsuya Oishi this summer if he was interested in becoming a position player. He declined because he wants to focus on pitching. Right shoulder problems kept him from pitching at Ichi-gun this year. Source: Sponichi 12/3/2014

  • Tomoya Ichikawa had back surgery at a hospital in Tokushima on Wednesday. He will remain in the hospital for about ten days and will require roughly two and a half months for a full recovery. Source: Nikkan Sports 12/3/2014
  • Shohei Otani's parents handle of their son's earnings (salary and bonuses plus whatever else he might receive from winning awards). They give him 100,000 yen a month to cover his expenses. Otani uses less than 10,000 yen a month. His biggest expense is a business suit he purchases for 100,000 yen before the start of each season.
