Takeya Nakamura (31) met Seibu Lion officials for salary negotiations on Monday and agreed to a thirty million yen raise (from 350 to 380 million yen).     Don’t get me wrong, I like Hirano, but that’s a whole lot of years and a whole lot of money for a closer who basically fell apart at the end of last year.

    6.75 ERA, .317 BAA, 1.59 WHIP in September/August…

    I agree. Here’s the thing that I can never really ‘get’ about NPB contracts:

    Exactly how much of this money is guaranteed? In the murky world of NPB salary negotiations, I can only get details about amount, years and ‘incentives’, but never whether and how much of the contract is guaranteed. Especially considering that NPB players take pay cuts of all things!

    Gen, what is your feeling on this matter? If you were to estimate how much Hirano actually gets, what would it be? Thanks in advance1
