[12/27/2014] Hiroki Kuroda to return to Hiroshima Carp

by on Dec.27, 2014 @ 11:33 am, under NPB

Hiroki Kuroda (39) has decided to return to the Hiroshima Carp. He was assigned the uniform number 15. The two sides reportedly agreed to a deal worth over 400 million yen. Kuroda is currently working out in Los Angeles. He does not have any immediate plans for returning to Japan. He will most likely make an announcement through his management company, Yoshimoto Creative Agency.

"I'm happy, not so much because we added another peice, but because he is coming back. Having a top-level player that might be able to provide us with mental strength is big. The younger players can pick up a thing or two from him," said owner Hajime Matsuda.

Nice! I was hoping more Japanese players who still had some gas in the tank would make the trip back home to retire in Japan. It’s a pity most going back seem to be shells of their former selves, or are just so injury prone they can’t stay in the lineup.
