Hanshin Tigers

  • Seung-Hwan Oh has been resting one day for every three days of workouts since he arrived in Guam on December 27. He has been spending about two hours on weights a day. He has managed to increase his weight by four kilograms to ninety-seven since the end of last season. Source: Sponichi 1/14/2015 ... Oh will be in Guam until the 24th. Source: Sanspo 1/14/2015 ... The Tigers could begin preliminary negotiations with Oh for the 2016 season some time after the All-Star break. Oh does consider Hanshin an option past the 2015 season.   • Ryosuke Morioka, Masato Nakazawa, Yuki Shichijo, Tetsuya Yamamoto, Ryo Akiyoshi, and Taichi Ishiyama worked out in Saito, Miyazaki on Wednesday. Nakazawa, Shichijo, Yamamoto, and Ishiyama threw in the bullpen. Shichijo's wife gave birth to the couple's third child, a girl, on December 3, 2014. Source: Sponichi 1/14/2015 ...   • The Swallows dormitory in Toda, Saitama: basement - locker rooms, common room; first floor - indoor training facility, training room; second floor - rooms for the trainers; third floor to fifth floor - dormitory rooms. Curfew at 10:00pm during the season, 12:00am the day before off-days. Fines are handed out to players that are caught breaking curfew. Players spend the night outside of the dorms about once a month, and generally the day before an off-day. Players pay several tens of thousands of yen for room and board. Amounts are adjusted based on salary and are taken out of salaries. Players are allowed to apply for driver licenses, but are not allowed to drive until: for university and Industrial League players, their first year, but only after the end of the Nippon Series; or for high school, when they turn twenty-one.
