  • Shintaro Fujinami interview by ZakZak. You mentioned on TV that you wanted to try [playing in the Majors] when you got to that level. What did you mean? "[I'd like to try] when I become a pitcher that can represent the league and the NPB. There isn't a certain number or standard. I want to be someone everyone recognizes. Like Yu Darvish, Masahiro Tanaka, Kenta Maeda, and Chihiro Kaneko. I want to get to that kind of overpowering level [before I go]." Anyone that becomes overpowering will want to try [the Majors]. "And that's it. Even Darvish said he didn't have to go. This might come out wrong, but players that no longer feel challenged by Japanese yakyu should go. I think it's natural to want to do more."
