The Hanshin Tigers announced earlier today that they re-signed Takashi Toritani (33) to a contract. According to media reports, the two sides agreed to a five-year deal worth about two billion yen.
Below are portions from his press conference:
Did you sign a one-year or multi-year deal?
How long and for how much money?
It's a multi-year deal. You can make guesses on the amount.
What were your thoughts on the money?
It was not about the money. I feel good about my decision because I was able to properly think about whether I wanted to play over there or over here.
Does this mean you put the Majors aside for the time being?
Well, I felt strongly about winning with Hanshin and I think it would be nice if I can end my career with Hanshin.
