The NPB held an "open competition" to find their next baseball manufacturing partner. The media learned earlier today that the league will renew their contract with Mizuno, citing quality, supply capability, and price as reasons for their decision.
The competition began with four suppliers providing the NPB with sample baseballs. The balls where handed out to the twelve NPB teams for testing during the fall camp. A survey helped narrow the field to two companies. After additional discussions the league decided to go with Mizuno.
The NPB is expected to sign a formal agreement after details have been fleshed out.
