Yomiuri Giants

  • Hayato Sakamoto arrived in Miyazaki on Saturday. He will start the year at Ichi-gun spring camp, but will be taking things slow during the first block of workouts -- he missed mini-camp because of lower back tightness. Source: Sponichi 1/31/2015, Nikkan Sports 1/31/2015

Hanshin Tigers

  • First round draft pick Yuya Yokoyama could toss a bullpen session some time during the third block of spring camp (begins February 11). Source: Nikkan Sports 1/31/2015
  • Team official Eiichi Takano told reporters on Saturday that Mauro Gomez received his passport and could join the team on the first day of the second block of spring camp (February 6). The Tigers also sent a representative to the Dominican Republic to keep an eye on things and help when needed. The plan is for Gomez to arrive in Japan on the 4th, head to Okinawa on the 5th, and be ready to practice on the 6th. Source: Daily Sports 1/31/2015, Sanspo 1/31/2015, Nikkan Sports 1/31/2015

Chunichi Dragons

Yakult Swallows

  • The Swallows visited Naminoue Shrine in Naha on Saturday to pray for a succesful season. Source: Sponichi 1/31/2015
  • Mitsuru Manaka is planning to take a more relaxed approached during spring camp. He does not want players to practice, just for the sake of practising. He wants players to use their time efficiently and responsibly. If they feel they are finished and are satisfied with their session, they are free to leave. Source: Sponichi 1/31/2015
