Kenichi Marumo took a batted ball off the left-side of his head during practices on Thursday. Marumo was on his way to take his spot on the field during batting practice when a one-hop baseball struck him on the left-side of the head. He continued with fielding practices and then complained of dizziness when the session was over.
Marumo was examined by the team doctor and then taken to a hospital in Miyazaki for a full examination. He was diagnosed with an acute epidural hematoma and went under the knife the same day at around 7:00pm. He was responsive after the procedure and will require a week to ten days in the hospital.
