Softbank Hawks

  • Kimiyasu Kudo is willing to toss batting practice to Daisuke Matsuzaka. It could happen some time during after the 9th (third block on). Source: Nikkan Sports 2/7/2015, Sponichi 2/7/2015 ... Matsuzaka was slated to toss a bullpen session on Saturday, but pushed it back a day to Sunday because he felt it might be easier to throw with the day off on Monday. Source: Sports Hochi 2/7/2015

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • There is a chance Hiroki Kokubo will not select Shohei Otani for the next Samurai Japan roster because of scheduling issues. The Global Baseball Match will take place on March 10 and 11. Otani is currently slated to start an exhibition game against Lotte on March 12. Playing in the global match will not give him enough time to rest for the start. The general rule up to now has been to give Otani at least two days of rest before pitching in a game after making an appearance as a hitter. Source: Sponichi 2/7/2015 ... Otani could make the Samurai Japan roster for the Premier 12. It could even be as a multi-position player. Source: Sports Hochi 2/7/2015

Chiba Lotte Marines

  • Hideaki Wakui, Ayumu Ishikawa, and Yuki Karakawa could all get starts during the season opener against Softbank at YafuOku Dome. Source: Daily Sports 2/7/2015
  • Second round draft pick Eisuke Tanaka will most likely pitch in a batting practice scrimmage during the last block of Ishigaki camp (February 17-20). If he does well, he could go on to pitch in either an exhibition game against Chunichi on the 21st or a practice game against Hiroshima on the 22nd. There are no plans for him to pitch in batting practice scrimmages on the 9th and 11th or in intra-squad games on the 14th and 15th because he still needs time to work on his mechanics. Seibu Lions

  • Masato Kumashiro is moving from the outfield to short. To help the transition, he is using a very small glove because it forces him to stay low when fielding grounders. The smaller glove also makes it easier on transfers to the throwing hand. According SSK, the glove is about the same size as a smallish glove made for elementary school-aged kids. Rakuten Eagles
