Yomiuiri Giants

  • Hisayoshi Chono (right elbow/knee) could play in his first game some time in mid-March. The Softbank (March 11, 12 at YafuOku Dome) or Nippon Ham (March 20, 21 at Tokyo Dome) exhibition games are a possibility. Source: Nikkan Sports 2/19/2015

Hanshin Tigers

  • Mauro Gomez could play in a batting practice scrimmage on the 21st. If things are going well, he could play in his first game on the 24th against Yokohama. Source: Sponichi 2/19/2015
  • Takashi Toritani and Tsuyoshi Nishioka took extra fielding practice on Wednesday. Toritani fielded 173 baseballs and at one point gloved twenty-seven straight without an error. Nishioka fielded 182. The session was set to end after the two fielded twenty consecutive baseballs without making an error. Source: Sponichi 2/19/2015, Sponichi 2/19/2015, Daily Sports 2/19/2015
  • Seung-Hwan Oh could pitch in his first exhibition game on March 10 against Hiroshima at Koshien. Source: Sponichi 2/19/2015
  • The Tigers will most likely go with Randy Messenger as their opening day pitcher. Shintaro Fujinami was likely scratched as an option since he will be participating in Samurai Japan's Global Baseball Match. Source: Nikkan Sports 2/19/2015
  • Fujinami is set to start an exhibition game against Yokohama on the 21st. He will probably pitch in at least two more games before the Global Baseball Match, February 28 against Orix and March 6 against Seibu are possibilities. After that, two more games (possibly March 15 vs Yokohama and once during a three-game series against Orix that begins on the 20th) before the start of the regular season. There is a good chance his first regular season game will come on March 29, the third game of the opening series. Source: Nikkan Sports 2/19/2015, Sponichi 2/19/2015, Sanspo 2/19/2015
