The media learned that five players on the Yanagigaura High School baseball team snuck out of the team dormitory at night on June 8. Two third-year students then took a bus parked on the school grounds for a ride without a proper license. The school was issued a stern warning by the Japan High School Baseball Federation.
According to school officials, the two students drove a bus belonging to the soccer team several dozen meters at around 1:00am on June 8. The bus was left unlocked with the keys inside because there were plans to use it early in the morning. The dormitory supervisor caught the students after hearing the sounds of the bus.
The two students were issued indefinite suspensions. The three other students that watched and did nothing to stop the two were given two-week suspensions.
