The other five: Shigeo Nagashima (seventeen yearrs, 1958-1974), Shinnosuke Abe (fourteen years, 2001-2014), Tatsunori Hara (fourteen years, 1981-1994), Yoshinobu Takahashi (eleven years, 1998-2008), and Hideki Matsui (ten years, 1993, 2002). Chono also became the first player on the team to hit ten home runs this season. The home run came in the team's ninety-third game. The last time it took ninety-three games to produce the Giants' first hitter with at least ten home runs was in 1953 (Shigeru Chiba, ninety-three games).
