Rakuten Eagles

  • More on hitting coach Tomio Tashiro's resignation: According to Nikkan Sports, the Eagles were going to make some personnel changes that would send Ni-gun hitting coach Daisuke Kusano to Ichi-gun and Ichi-gun hitting coach Tashiro to Ni-gun. Tashiro submitted his resignation after hearing about the move because he felt he would no longer be able to fulfill his promise with senior adviser Senichi Hoshino. Tashiro was planning to step down after the 2014 season but decided to remain after Hoshino asked him to stay and help new manager Hiromoto Okubo. Tashiro was not against the demotion, but felt it made the most sense for him to leave because he would no longer be able to support Okubo, which was his only reason for staying. In a separate report, Nikkan Sports adds that one of the reasons why the batting order is constantly changing is because owner Hiroshi Mikitani has been vocal with his opinions this year. This may have contributed to Tashiro's decision to step down. Mikitani has also been pushing the team to do more running, regardless of situation. Source: Nikkan Sports 7/31/2015 ... Sanspo mentions something similar in a report of their own. Source: Sanspo 7/31/2015
  • The Eagles announced that Ni-gun hitting coach Daisuke Kusano will take over as the new Ichi-gun hitting coach. A Ni-gun hitting coach will not be named. Ni-gun position player coach Osamu Yonemura will retain his current title and also act as a hitting coach. Source: official announcement, Daily Sports 7/31/2015
