Hanshin Tigers

  • Ni-gun game against Softbank on July 30: Takumi Akiyama started the game and gave up three earned runs over four innings of work. He faced sixteen hitters, allowed four hits, including a two-run home run to Nobuhiko Matsunaka in the 2nd inning, walked none, hit one, and struck out six.   • Shintaro Fujinami started feeling like he might develop a cramp in his leg while throwing his warm-ups in the 3rd inning of a game against Yakult on July 31. The team trainer visited the mound in the 4th to check on him. Yakult Swallows

  • Tetsuto Yamada stole his twentieth base of the year on July 30 and became just the second Japanese Yakult player to record twenty home runs and twenty stolen bases in the same season.
