Yomiuri Giants

Hanshin Tigers

  • Takumi Akiyama could get a start on August 6 against Hiroshima at Mazda Stadium. Randy Messenger and Shintaro Fujinami could follow with starts on August 7 and 8 against Yokohama at Yokohama.   • Suguru Iwazaki could get another start on August 9 against Yokohama at Yokohama. Source: Daily Sports 8/3/2015, Nikkan Sports 8/3/2015 ... Iwazaki was having control issues at Ni-gun. Things started improving when he increased how much he threw each week. He started at sixty to eighty pitches in one bullpen session per week, then pushed that to 200 plus pitches over two sessions per week. Source: Sanspo 8/3/2015

Hiroshima Carp

  • Kyohei Nakamura joined Ichi-gun practices at Mazda Stadium on August 3. He could get his first start of the year during the Hanshin series that begins on August 4. He has not pitched in an Ichi-gun game since 2013. Source: Daily Sports 8/3/2015

Chunichi Dragons

  • Shunta Wakamatsu tossed his first career shutout in his first career start against the Yomiuri Giants on August 2. He became the first Chunichi pitcher to accomplish the feat since Ken Kadokura on August 2, 1996. At twenty years and five months, he also became the first Chunichi pitcher under twenty-one to record a shutout against the Giants since Shinichi Kondo tossed a no-hitter on August 9, 1987 at eighteen years and eleven months and four-hit shutout on September 30, 1987 at nineteen years and zero months. Yokohama Bay Stars

Yakult Swallows

  • Nine Yakult pitchers have started eleven seasons with winning streaks of five or more in franchise history, but only two have started seasons with at least five wins in as many games: Hirofumi Yamanaka (five wins in five starts in 2015) and Masaichi Kaneda (nine wins in six starts and three relief appearances in 1957).
