Yomiuri Giants

  • Miles Mikolas extended his winning streak to six games on August 4 and became the first foreign Yomiuri pitcher to accomplish the feat since Dennis Houlton in 2012 (six-game winning streak); and the first foreign Yomiuri pitcher to accomplish the feat in his first year since Balvino Galvez in 1996 (six-game and seven-game winning streaks).   • Ni-gun game against Softbank on August 5: Keisuke Imai started the game and gave up sixteen runs (all earned) over five innings of work. He faced thirty-five hitters, allowed seventeen hits, walked two, hit none, and struck out two. Among the seventeen hits: three solo home runs to Barbaro Canizares, one two-run home run to Takeshi Hosoyamada, and two grand slams, one to Seiji Uebayashi and the other to Tomoaki Egawa.
