Notes

Hiroshima: The Carp won their second game in a row. They won their third game in a row against the Giants and their fourth game in a row against the Giants at Tokyo Dome. ... Maeda stopped a two-game losing streak with his first win in three starts since his last win on July 10. He is 3-3 with a 1.20 ERA (0.89 WHIP) in six starts against the Giants this year. ... Matsuyama homered for the first time since June 9 (fifty-eight plate appearances in between home runs).

Yomiuri: The Giants lost their third straight game. ... H. Takagi is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA (1.33 WHIP) in two starts since his last win on July 25. He is 1-1 with a 2.05 ERA (1.09 WHIP) in three starts against the Carp this season. ... Tateoka picked up his fifth modasho of the year.

    I haven’t been in the loop for a while, but what in the world happened to Carp’s Osera!?? Why was he demoted to being a reliever?

      I don’t think they necessarily meant it as a demotion. I think it was more about letting him experience other roles. Plus I think they felt they had enough arms for the rotation.
