I thought that Imae had a bigger contract than what he got (200 million yen) so my comment wasn’t that scientific. The position switch I knew would be a clincher. Now Matsuda can star for the next 4 years, at his position, 3rd base.

  1. Patrick Wilson

1 million, to play second base? Look at Dae-Ho Lee, probably not getting much love either… I feel that athletes should always be looking to compete against the best, but I like NPB stars to remain in the NPB. I’m biased a bit. Also, if Lee is to go back to KBO good for that league! The positive to Maeda going to the majors, is some room to youngsters like Akitade Okada in the rotation.

  2. Patrick Wilson

My guess is Matsuda stays with Softbank. A bit like Toritani last year. It’s taken too long and the idea of playing second base for a capable third baseman must be a bit of a turn off.

  3. Tim

I have a question related to the case of former Carp Kimura. Now that Seibu signed him after the tryout, do they need to pay compensation to the Carps anymore?

    1. Gen Post author

Sorry, the info I had up was wrong. He was actually a C level free agent, which means there is no compensation.

If he was a higher ranked free agent, then I do believe Seibu would owe Hiroshima compensation.
