The Game Operation Committee met in Tokyo for the last time this year on December 1. The NPB is planning to keep the committee together next year for more deliberations on how to improve game times. This year, nine inning games averaged three hours and thirteen minutes, four minutes less than last year. The NPB will hand out a booklets on game-shortening measures to all twelve NPB teams before the start of spring camp next year.
The NPB is planning to remove the draft logo from losing ballot cards next year due to recent mix-ups. All ballot cards have the draft logo stamped on the left side of a folded card. Winning ballots have the phrase "koshoken kakutei" (negotiating rights confirmed) stamped on the right side. Losing ballots have nothing stamped on the right side. Ballot cards with only the draft logo on the left side were mistaken as the winning card at least twice in draft history.

- Motohiro Shima was officially named JPBPA union chairman for the fourth straight year.

- Acting secretary general Tadahito Mori was named secretary general.
