Samurai Japan vs Chinese Taipei Series updates:

  • Samurai Japan mascots -- Oen Samurai Tamabe, Daola, Tsubakuro, Kumatan, Kumatan's girlfriend, and Osomatsu-san's Iyami -- will be appearing in a pre-game event outside Nagoya Dome on March 5. Source: official announcement
  • Osomatsu-san's Iyami is slated to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on March 6. Source: official announcement
  • Yakult's Shingo Kawabata is expected to miss the series because of the flu. Source: Daily Sports 3/1/2016
  • Samurai Japan pitching coach Hiroshi Gondo is thinking about using Yomiuri's Tomoyuki Sugano as a closer during the series. Gondo believes the best pitcher on the staff should be used as the closer. Source: Daily Sports 3/1/2016

A new Samurai Japan poster featuring seven players from all levels -- like Shohei Otani (top team), Seigi Tanaka (college), Kotaro Kiyomiya (18U) -- will be distributed to about 600 locations nationwide. The poster will come in two sizes: B1 and B2. The poster also includes a schedule for 2016 tournaments.
