According to the high school, on April 22, at around 10pm, two second year students slapped four first year students in the head/face and kicked one first year student in the buttocks while warning them about their lifestyles.  None of the five students suffered physical injuries.

Manager Teppei Azuma was contacted on April 23, after the first year students informed their parents of what happened.  The school opened an investigation and contacted the Fukui Baseball Federation on April 25.  An official report was filed on April 26.

The first and second year students have apologized to one another and a peaceful understanding was reached.

The two second year students were on the Senbatsu (Spring Koshien) roster.

According to the suit, the student began attending the high school in 2010 as a scholarship student.  Beginning in May of the same year, older students on the baseball team started to assault him (punched, struck in the arms with baseball bats).  Things culminated in February 2011 when he was told to quit baseball and was kicked out of the player dorm.

The student and his parents claim the school did not do enough to help.  The student has not been able to return to school.

At the time, four students were charged with assault and the case was sent to a Shizuoka family court in September 2011.  In January this year, the family court dismissed the case without a hearing and the beatings were acknowledged as fact.

The parents of the seventeen-year-old student feel that had the school done more to help their son, he would still be going to school and chasing his dream of playing at Koshien and becoming a professional player.

They also decided:

• first and second round games will begin at 8:00am
• quarterfinals and semifinals games will begin at 9:00am
• the finals game at 10:30am
• they will again collect donations for relief efforts in northern Japan

Brackets will be determined on August 5.

The Kyushu Fall Tournament will take place between October 27 and November 1.  The tournament will be played in Nagasaki.

At the time of the fire, students were in class and the facilities were supposedly empty.  The door to the facilities were unlocked.

Aomori Yamada is currently involved in a wrongful death lawsuit involving a first year student on the baseball team that died after he was hit by another student.

Misaitsu was promoted to manager in July 2011.  He was in charge of the player dorms, but was not present on the day the first year student died.

While the actual cause of death for the baseball player has not been identified, the family is claiming that the actions of the other student was the underlying cause of their son's death.  They are also claiming that the school was not properly prepared to handle emergency situations: the teacher that was supposed to be on watch was not present and there were no AED devices in the vicinity.

The lawyer for the family told reporters that the lawsuit was filed because the family does not want to see something like this happen again and because they want more establishments to become better prepared for medical emergencies.

Aomori Yamada Gakuen responded by saying that they were checking on the details of the lawsuit and that they already started going over dorm rules and regulations.
