Hokkaido High School Baseball Federation to invite Waseda and Keio to Hokkaido

The Hokkaido High School Baseball Federation held board of directors meeting on Friday and decided to invite Waseda High School and Keio High School to Hokkaido next year to play in some games.  The following six Hokkaido high schools will also be included: Hokusho, Hokkai, Komazawa University Tomakomai, Shirakaba Gakuen, Asahikawa Jitsugyo, and Komazawa University Iwamizawa.

A total 6 games will be played over two days (6/16-6/17) at Maruyama Stadium.  Admission will be free.  Match-ups will be posted at a later date.


94th Summer Koshien to begin on 8/8/2012

The Japan High School Baseball Federation held a steering committee meeting for the 94th Summer Koshien earlier today and decided that the 15-day tournament will begin on 8/8/2012.  49 schools will compete.  Brackets for the tournament will be determined on 8/5 beginning at 4pm at the Osaka International Convention Center.

They also agreed to donate the 41,713,616 yen they raised during the 93rd Koshien (30M yen from ticket sales and 11,713,616yen in donations from fans) to the high school athletic federations, high school cultural federations, and the high school baseball federations located in the Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima regions.

Japan Student Baseball Association hands down sentences [11/8/2011]

The Japan Student Baseball Association met on the 8th to determine punishments for 6 cases.

Game Suspensions

Seirei Christopher (Shizuoka) - coercion of goods from players - 1 month beginning on 10/12

Sanyo (Hiroshima) - stealing, smoking, possession of cigarettes - 1 month beginning on 11/2

Suspensions

Kobayashi (Miyazaki) manager - 3 months beginning on 10/12 - breaking charter rules (held baseball tests as part of their school entrance exams)

Okaya Minami (Nagano) manager - 6 months beginning on 10/25 - trying to recruit a middle school student

Sendai Minami (Miyagi) manager - indefinite period of time beginning on 10/3 - theft

Kagoshima Josei (Kagoshima) director, manager, team members - 6 months beginning on 10/21 - concealing a scandalous event (theft involving two players)


Nagoya Kokusai High School bus involved in minor accident

A mini bus carrying baseball players from Nagoya Kokusai High School was involved in a minor accident as they were making their way back from practices on Friday.

At around 7:55pm on Friday, a mini bus carrying Nagoya Kokusai high schools baseball players was stopped at a red light when a 42-year-old man crashed into the rear-end of the bus.  Of the 22 players on board, 11 suffered minor injuries like bruises.  And the man driving the car suffered a contusion on his chest.

The police are currently handling this as a case of negligent / reckless driving.


Toyo DaiFu Himeji High School student caught drinking through blog post

The media learned on Monday that a third year Toyo DaiFu Himeji High School (Hyogo) student was being disciplined for drinking at a friends house.

According to the high school, the third year student was celebrating his birthday, with 4 other students, while at another student's house, when he started drinking the alcohol he found in the fridge.  One of the 4 students reportedly posted a blog entry with a picture of what was happening.

An anonymous tipster contacted the school and informed them about the blog post.  Upon being questioned, the third year student admitted to drinking alcohol.

The third year student did not play at the Koshien and was instead part of the cheer group in the stands.


Kagoshima Josei High School fails to report two incidents in a timely manner

The Japan High School Baseball Federation (JHBF) was notified by Kagoshima Josei High School that players on their baseball team were caught stealing money and riding public transportation without paying in July and September.  While the JHBF is allowing the high school to participate in the Fall Kyushu High School Tournament, as punishment for their delay reporting the incidents, the manager and the director of the team will not be allowed to enter the dugout for the games.

According to reports, a 3rd year student was caught stealing money (20,000 yen) at player dorms after the Kagoshima Tournament in July and a 1st year student was caught stealing a ride on a train in September.  The JHBF asks all members of their federation to report incidents on a timely basis, but it took Kagoshima Josei until the 19th of this month to file reports on two events that took place in July and September.


Charges filed against four 3rd-year high school students

Nikkan Sports reports that through Saturday, charges were filed against a total four 3rd-year Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa High School students on the suspicion of committing violent actions towards a 1st-year student in 2005.  The charges were filed by the family of the 1st-year student.  According to school officials, the four 3rd-year students stopped attending classes in the spring this year.
