[4/13/2014] Women’s Samurai Japan plays three practice games over the weekend

The Women's Samurai Japan team played three practice games against a Kanto mixed team this weekend.  The games were free to the public and took place at Gyoda Sogo Park Baseball Field in Saitama.

[3/12/2014] JABA MHPS Yokohama, Mizuno’s Celebrity Bats, Eiji Kanamori takes job as high school manager

The Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA) announced that Mitsubishi Juko Yokohama will be renamed to Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Yokohama.  The abbreviation will be MHPS Yokohama.

Mizuno announced that the Celebrity series bat, geared specifically toward female baseball players, will hit store shelves on March 13, 2014.  The bats will come in two colors, Pink Gradation and Red Gradation, and will carry a price tag of 23,000 yen.  They will be available at stores selling Mizuno merchandise nationwide.  The company hopes to sell about 300 bats in the first year.

Kanazawa Gakuin Higashi High School announced that former Lotte batting coach and professional player Eiji Kanamori (57) will take over as manager of their baseball team, effective April 1.  The high school signed Kanamori to a three-year contract.

[2/19/2014] The All Japan Women’s Baseball Federation

The All Japan Women's Baseball Association (全日本女子野球連盟) will be launched on April 1.  The new association will become the unified governing body at the youth, high school, university, and club levels.  About sixty teams are expected to join.

The Women's Baseball Association Japan (WBAJ) will transfer its current duties to the new association and will be dissolved.

[10/27/2013] Victoria Series: All West wins season series, 4-3

Two Victoria Series games took place over the weekend. The All West blanked the All East 4-0 on Saturday to tie the season series at 3-3. All East came back on Sunday to beat the All West 3-1 and won the season series, 4-3.

Mika Konishi recorded her 200th career strikeout in the bottom of the 5th on Sunday -- she got Yuki Kawabata looking.
