The Japan Women's Baseball League (JWBL) announced on January 18 that the 2016 Victoria Series will begin on March 19. The league posted the schedule for the three home openers.

[9/7/2015] Sanfo Lassina makes his debut, BC League tryouts in the US, JWBL tryouts in Saitama

Sanfo Lassina made his debut with the Kochi Fighting Dogs on September 2. He made an appearance as a pinch-hitter in the 8th inning against the Ehime Mandarin Pirates at Kochi Stadium and struck out on three pitches. He then got the start at third against Ehime at Botchan Stadium on September 4 and grounded out to short in his only trip to the plate in the top of the 3rd and was replaced in the bottom of the inning.

The Route Inn BC League willbe holding tryouts in the United States in Temecula, California on November 7 and 8. The league has been holding tryouts in the US since 2012. They will be working with the Washington Nationals this year. About 100 players are expected to attend.

The Japan Women's Baseball League (JWBL) will be holding tryouts at Kawaguchi Stadium in Saitama on September 17 and 18.

Day 1:

  • Position players: fifty-meter run, long distance throwing, baes-running, hitting, fielding
  • Pitchers: playing catch, long distance throwing, pitching
  • All players: fielding scrimmage, infield plays, baseball clinic

Day 2:

  • Scrimmage (batting practice scrimmage of intra-squad game)
  • Interview, physical, baseball clinic

This will be the second tryout this year. The first tryout took place in June at Wakasa Stadium Kyoto. About forty participated and three made the cut. Youtube: Day 1, Day 2.
