Twelfth Georgia Award (2011)

The Twelfth Georgia Award for 2011 went to Seiichi Uchikawa for becoming the 2nd player in NPB history to win batting titles in either league.

On October 13th, Uchikawa reached the minimum required number of plate appearances to qualify for a batting title.  He also went 2-for-3 in the game and raised his batting average to .344.  Georgia video - Box score

Eleventh Georgia Award (2011)

The Eleventh Georgia Award for 2011 went to Masahiro Tanaka for his start against Yuki Saito and the Nippon Ham Fighters on 9/10.

On September 10th, Tanaka faced off against "old high school rival" Saito for the first time since 2006 and pitched his team to a 4-1 complete game victory over the Fighters.  He also struck out 12 batters.  Georgia video - Box score

NPB: Final MVP JA Zennoh Go Go Awards

The NPB announced the winners of the Final MVP JA Zennoh Go Go Awards (an award that was newly established this year).

Central League

JA Zennoh Go Go Award (Final MVP)

Shinnosuke Abe, Yomiuri Giants
Won the last two two JA Zennoh Awards this season -- Rifle Arm in August and Most Doubles / Triples in September.

Pacific League

JA Zennoh Go Go Award (Final MVP)

Yu Darvish, Nippon Ham Fighters
Won the JA Zennoh Award for Most Strikeouts in June (54 strikeouts with a strikeout rate of 11.57).  It was the second time he won the award since 2009.  Darvish has so far accumulated 261 strikeouts and has a strikeout rate of 10.53.

Tenth Georgia Award (2011)

The Tenth Georgia Award for 2011 went to Fumiya Nishiguchi for tossing a shutout on 8/28.

On August 28th, Nishiguchi tossed a 1-0 shutout against the Nippon Ham Fighters, his first since 8/27/2005.  It was also his first complete game since 6/4/2006 (it ended an NPB record of 102 consecutive games without a complete game).  Georgia video - Box score

Mizuno MVP Farm Awards for September 2011

The Ni-gun Mizuno MVP awards for September.

Eastern League

Tetsuto Yamada - Yakult Swallows
17 G, 20-for-64, 0 HR, 5 RBI, 3 SB, .313 AVG

Played in all 17 games in the month of September and finished the month with his first .300+ batting average.  He was also the only player on the team that played in all 114 games this season.

Western League

Ryoji Nakata - Chunichi Dragons
12 G, 16-for-42, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB, .381 AVG

Led the league in batting average in the month of September.  He also ended the season with the second best batting average in the league.

NPB: JA Zennoh Go Go Awards for September 2011

JA Zennoh Go Go Award (Doubles / Triples - Extra Miler)

Shinnosuke Abe, Yomiuri Giants
Reason: Led the league in double (9) + triples (0) with 9.  Four other player were tied with 7.

Pacific League

JA Zennoh Go Go Award (Doubles / Triples - Extra Miler)

Tomotaka Sakaguchi, Orix Buffaloes (Second Time)
Reason: Sakaguchi collected 5 doubles and 4 triples for 9 points.  Two other players were tied with the same number.  Sakaguchi ended at the top spot based on the following tie-breaker rules: which ever player has more triples (that eliminated one of the two ties); and whichever player has the higher percentage of doubles + triples to hits (eliminated the final tie).

Mizuno MVP Farm Awards for August 2011

The Ni-gun Mizuno MVP awards for August.

Eastern League

Mitsugu Ishikawa - Seibu Lions
18 G, 22-for-73, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 7 SB, .301 AVG

Ishikawa stole a league high 7 bases in August.  He also hit safely in 11 straight (between 8/5 and 8/23) and recorded 8 multi-hit games.

Western League

Yuki Yanagita - Softbank Hawks
14 G, 13-for-50, 5 HR, 17 RBI, 1 SB, .260 AVG

Yanagita led the league in RBI, homers, and SLG (.640) in August.  He also hit homers in 4 straight games between 8/16 and 8/19.
