The Central League and Pacific League formally announced complete details on game length limits for the 2011 season.  They are as follows:

  1. If two teams are still tied after playing 12 innings, the game will end in a tie.  For the 2011 season, once the length of the game hits 3 hours and 30 minutes, games will not advance into any new extra innings.  The limit will begin the moment the game actually begins and not the scheduled start time.
  2. The 3 hour 30 minute limit includes delays caused by things like rain, wind, fog, and any other reasons that might temporarily stop play.
  3. Double headers will not advance into any new extra innings if they hit the 3 hour 30 minute mark.
  4. If a game ends early because a blackout, the game will be called.

The Central League and Pacific League released their updated schedules today.  The CL moved a total 52 games (including 42 between 3/25 and 4/10) after 9/19 while the PL moved a total 65 games (including 44 that were between 3/25 and 4/10; the PL also made use of travel dates beginning from 6/30) and redid a bulk of their schedule after 9/18.  The CL schedule is still missing two games: Hanshin vs Yakult and Hanshin vs Hiroshima.

As it stands now, the regular season is scheduled to end on 10/16 and no team will play in more than 9 consecutive games without a day off.  The First Stage of the Climax Series will begin on 10/29; the Final Stage on 11/2.

Amongst some of the changes:

The Hiroshima Carp vs Yomiuri Giants 3-game series that was supposed to take place at Tokyo Dome between 4/15 and 4/17 was switched to a Yomiuri Giants vs Hiroshima Carp 3-game series at Mazda Stadium.  The make-up for the Tokyo Dome games has been scheduled to start on 9/30.

The Chunichi Dragons vs Yomiuri Giants 3-game series that was supposed to to take place at Tokyo Dome between 4/22 - 4/24 was canceled and rescheduled to begin on 10/14.

A Rakuten Eagles vs Nippon Ham Fighters game that was scheduled to take place in Koriyama, Fukushima has been moved to Kleenex Stadium.

A Chiba Lotte Marines vs Seibu Lions game (at Seibu Dome) was added on 7/25 (the day after the final All-Star game).

The Seibu Lions vs Nippon Ham Fighters three game series at Sapporo Dome between 9/19 and 9/21 was switched to a Nippon Ham Fighters vs Seibu Lions series at Seibu Dome.  This is to account for the series the two teams swapped home venues for this month.
