25th Asian Baseball Championships – Japan Wins

Japan beat Korea earlier today, 7-1, to take their 17th Asian Baseball Championship.
Hirokazu Sawamura started and tossed 8 innings while giving up a run on 2 hits (he was actually throwing a no-hitter through 5).
Taiwan beat China, 13-1.

Kazuhito Futagami, Masahiro Inui, Nao Higashihama, and Hirokazu Sawamura combined to shut-out China, 4-0. Japan took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Ikuhiro Kiyota's 2-run double.Taiwan beat Korea, 5-4.

Japan beat Taiwan on Sunday, 6-5 in extra innings. Kiyota hit a 2-run homer for Japan.Korea beat China, 8-1.

Japan swept the First Round of the Asian Baseball Championship by beating Indonesia 13-0 (the game was called after 7 innings).
Hisashi Chono went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs and hit a grand slam.
Leo Moriyasu, Yuhei Nakaushiro, and Yodai Enoshita combined to shut-out Indonesia.
The Philippines beat Thailand, 8-0.

Two games play by Japan, both called.
Japan beat Thailand by the score of 12-0 and now have a guaranteed spot in the second round.*
Ikuhiro Kiyota went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and nailed 2 home runs (a solo shot in the 4th and a 2-run shot in the 5th).
Yusuke Nomura, Yuhei Nakaushiro, and Tomoyuki Sugano combined to shut out Thailand.
The Philippines beat Indonesia, 6-1.

Japan beat the Philippines, 12-0 behind Kazuhito Futagami's 5 inning, 7 strike out start. The game was called after 7 innings. Kenji Suzuki (solo), Hisayoshi Chono (solo) and Keiji Ikebe (3-run) all hit home runs for Japan. Chono was 1 double away from hitting for the cycle.
Thailand beat Indonesia, 6-1.
Thailand will take on Japan and Indonesia will play the Philippines tomorrow.
